Sept 23-25, 2022 - Whistler Alpine Meadows
With too many variables outside our control, we've had to postpone the 90km, 110km, 100m, Ascent and Triple WAMMY events to WAM 2022. We're looking forward to seeing you then, and hopefully having WAM back to normal!

Distance: 5.75km / 3.5 miles
Ascent: 1,200 m / 4,000 ft
This ascent race is pure uphill, all the way, start to finish.
You do not get a break, you do not get to run downhill at any point along the entire route! This is a sustained climb of 1200 meters / 4000 feet, over a distance of just 5.75 km / 3.5 miles. What does that all that mean? A world of hurt, that’s what!
The climb up Blackcomb will make you question your life choices, even as you proceed through impressively large trees nestled into a tranquil moss blanketed forest. It will certainly be difficult to appreciate the beauty of it all as you’re struggling to keep your heart rate below 200.
The newly constructed Ascent Trail is a work of art, and you’ll all be the very first people to run in an organized event over this terrain. You’re going to love…hate…love it!
Once you cross the finish line you’ll receive a highly coveted Ascent Race finisher medal, and bragging rights to completing one of the harder ascent races you’re bound to come across. The race concludes at the Rendezvous Lodge on Blackcomb Mountain, where you can sit and enjoy a beer and some eats after your hard effort, having run straight up the mountain. Thankfully the views from the finish area are spectacular and you’ll enjoy them more than ever, after your heartrate drops back down below 200 that is. Once you’re satiated, on food and views, enjoy the Blackcomb Gondola all the way back down to Whistler Village.
Did you sign up for the Triple WAMMY? You may be starting to regret that decision as you soak in the views over all of Whistler from what feels like the absolute top of the world.

Aid Stations, Drop Bag and Finish Line Bags:
There will be NO aid stations on this course - please be prepared with adequate nutrition and hydration.
This race has the option for a small finish line bag, which will be collected at the start, transported to the top, and stored at the finish under a tent which is not monitored so please label your bag and do not leave any valuables.
Half-way point (Mid-Station): 2h00m (12:00pm Fri)
Finish (Rendezvous Lodge): 4h00m (2:00pm Fri)
Crew, Pacers and Poles
Crew Accessibility: Crew / friends / family are allowed to make their way up Blackcomb Mountain, either via hiking or taking the gondola from the village.
Pacers: Pacers are NOT allowed in any distance, including the 175km distance due to permitting restrictions.
Poles: Poles ARE allowed for this event. Please be careful and aware of other runners, and those who are immediately behind you.

In our effort to reduce waste, all our races are now cup-free, meaning you'll need to pack along your own cup for fluids at aid stations and at the finish line. Here are two suggestions: a collapsible cup (available in our merch store), or a homemade version cutting the top off an empty juicebox.
