Date: Sept 24-26, 2021
Total Distance: 146 kms / 90 miles
Total Ascent: 10,000 m / 33,000 ft
Total Descent: 8,000 m / 26,000 ft
We have an Ascent Race, a 50 km race, and a 90 km race…so why not add in a 3-day stage race you say? Voila! Here you go!
The new “Triple WAMMY!+” involves running the ascent race on Friday, via a lung searing 1200-meter ascent over a distance of just 5.75 kms. Decisions, decisions, do you lay it all on the line and hope to recover in time for day 2, or do you play it conservative, saving something for Saturday and Sunday’s stages?
Saturday’s second stage involves 50 kms of net positive single track. What does that mean? PAIN! 50k with 3800 meters (12,500ft) of climbing, and just 2500 meters (8200ft) of descent.
If you’ve played it smart through the first two stages, you’ve left something in the tank for biggest challenge of all, a 90 km point to point race with OVER 5000 meters (16,400ft) of climb and descent. Did you enjoy the ascent race on Blackcomb on Friday? We hope so, cause you get to do that climb each and every day in the Triple WAMMY!+
The good news? By the time you’ve completed all 3-stages, you’ll have run a grand total of 146 kms (90miles) with over 10,000 meters of gain and 8000 meters of descent / 33,000ft up and 26,000 down. Wowsers! You deserve a drink, and a special, 3-piece finisher’s trophy! And, if allowed, a big ole congratulatory finish line hug 😊
And of course let’s not forget the custom “Triple WAMMY!” finisher’s item. You’ll be so chuffed with yourself you’ll proudly don your medal on everything from trail runs, to business meetings, weekend parties and maybe even the occasional wedding.
